Ehsan Yaghoubi

Associate Professor at Victoria University

Ehsan Yaghoubi is an Associate Professor in Civil Engineering with the College of Sport, Health and Engineering. Ehsan is the also the Associate Director (Research) at the Institute for Sustainable Industries & Liveable Cities, and Leader at Geotechnical, Rock Mechanics and Pavement research group (Pavement Geotechnics & Recycled Materials). Ehsan is a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) of the Institute of Engineers Australia in Civil Engineering & Geotechnical Engineering.

Ehsan’s area of expertise includes asphalt mixtures, pavement geotechnics, circular economy & recycled/waste materials in geotechnical and pavement applications, unsaturated soil mechanics, and improvement of expansive/reactive soils.

Ehsan has been awarded two State Government funds by Sustainability Victoria(external link) which he has been leading in close collaboration with geotechnical and water industry partners. He has also been a chief investigator in several projects, including a project funded through the Victorian Higher Education Strategic Investment Fund to investigate sustainable pavement systems made of waste/recycled materials in collaboration with pavement industries and local governments. He has been a recipient of the 2021 Vice Chancellor’s Award in the “Innovation” Category & the 2022 Vice Chancellor’s Award in the “Sustainability” Category.

Ehsan had a leading role in the development of VU’s state of the art geotechnical and pavement laboratories and has established VU’s inaugural asphalt testing facility capable of undertaking cutting edge research on asphalt and pavement materials.
